Digital Signage Hardware Products

Bespoke hardware

Sedao can provide digital signage solution for almost any conceivable requirement.

We regularly produce one-off signage players for specific signage requirements such as 4 and 8 output systems to drive video walls (at their maximum resolutions) but that’s just a very small part of what we can offer.

Often copied but seldom beaten here are some great examples of digital signage technology Sedao pioneered, as bespoke developments, for Sedao partners and their clients

Phones4U Signage Hub

Phones4U’s POS marketing agency HSquared Limited were tasked to find a partner who could deliver a solution which was flexible beyond compare. Having looked at almost every solution in the global marketplace HSquared came to Sedao as the only provider who could offer the technical specification within the budget that allowed the clients business model to work. It was a great pleasure to provide the technology that lived inside the signage Hubs and to work with a HSquared on this project.

Client Brief

  • Sensor input to trigger different content when different phones or tablets where lifted from display cradles
  • Ability to show interactive touch-screen content relevant to the phone lifted
  • Screens to be able to rotate from landscape to portrait for different campaigns (content and touch screen drivers to follow suit)
  • Dual camera inputs to allow content that could engage directly with the customers
  • Central control and update of content of wifi network
  • NO ongoing cost of ownership

Working with H2 this was delivered into 150 of the client’s main stores over 3 years later (at time of writing) was still working and generating business for the client.

Phones4U network delivered movie player

Following the success of the signage Hub a national roll-out of display bays featuring non-interactive screens was required. This needs full screen video and poster play back with the requirements of

  • Low cost
  • Support playback of every movie
  • Wifi connectivity for central delivery of updated content
  • Scheduled playback of movies at start of campaigns
  • USB content ‘auto upload’ in case of wifi problems
  • NO ongoing cost of ownership

This was successfully met using a lower spec version of Sedao’s SWEP-V2 hardware and the ‘Sedao All Media’ linux player over two years more than 1200 units shipped into this network (as are still going strong well at the time of writing this).

Ebbw Vale Map room which led onto abstract video walls

Utilising the movie playback capability of the SAM player we extended it to allow players to locked together to make a 260 degree projection system using 6 players. To work with the museum control system the playback was configured to be started, stopped and looped under control from a (Kramer or Creston) controller.

We even created some bespoke content for the museum including a Christmas animation when they decided to use the room as Santa’s grotto.

We took this same technology to the NEC partner event to show this impressive movie of an Olympic torch for the then upcoming 2012 Olympics using 10 off 32 inch screens at abstract angles.

Ebbw Vale Automated Green-screen kiosk

In 2012 Sedao were asked to provide the digital signage for the entire museum project and one of the more fun aspects of this was the requirement to generate revenue from an area of the museum where visitors could stand against a green screen background, have their photograph taken and it ‘automatically (with no staff involvement) create a souvenir of them overlaid into the museums mining past. Two of these bespoke kiosks were created from concept to completion.
